What’s it like to work at an innovative company like DCR? In this monthly blog series, we let you peek behind the curtain into our organization to see what makes us tick – our culture, our core roles and the people behind them. We’d like you to meet Shelley Luzaich, our Marketing Content Specialist. She’s been with DCR since the beginning of 2016 and is already making a splash on this very blog.
My core responsibilities entail strategizing, building and executing the content marketing program from white papers, fact sheets and brochures to all of our digital assets such as landing pages, ads, website updates, email marketing and, of course, our blog. I work closely with the vice president of marketing and the sales team to develop key pieces that align with our business development efforts. In essence, I help bring the marketing strategy to life through my words in combination with the cutting-edge images we use. The areas I enjoy the most are interacting cross-functionally with every department at DCR, and using my vivid imagination to create fresh yet relevant and engaging content that’s capturing the attention of the industry.
This is a very hands-on department, and you have to not only understand our technology and our industry, you also have to comprehend the intricacies of every industry we work with – whether it’s nuclear energy, finance and insurance, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, technology, retail or any other industry. It’s a steep learning curve! Then you also have to know how to prioritize your work and be extremely flexible because a new project can come in that takes precedence but you have to jump back into the other project, not leave it on the back burner. You have to know who our customers are, and write with them in mind, for every type of medium.
I’ve always loved reading, learning and self-improvement, and they’re really focused on continual learning and self-improvement here. Whether it’s in-house training to learn new features about our software or requiring online classes to be sure we’re staying up-to-speed in the industry, there’s a huge focus on continuing education. Like my mom always said, “You learn something new every day!”
My opinion is always valued. Now, they may not implement every suggestion I make, but they’ll listen and appreciate the input to streamline processes, develop procedures or improve communications. I’ve never been told to keep my opinion to myself. They encourage new ideas, new ways of doing things and new possibilities. That’s why they’re the industry innovators!
I’m thrilled with the house cleaning service. At first I thought I wouldn’t use it because I was leery I wouldn’t find someone trustworthy, but now I wouldn’t live without it. In fact, I love telling people that one of my perks is house cleaning service just to see the look on their face. It’s priceless!
