Behind the Curtain at DCR – Payroll Supervisor

What’s it like to work at an innovative company like DCR? In this monthly blog series, we let you peek behind the curtain into our organization to see what makes us tick – our cultures, our core roles and the people behind them. We’d like you to meet Juliana Vasquez, our Payroll Supervisor. She’s been with DCR since she moved from New York to Boca Raton in 2004.

Hi Juliana! Can you tell us what your role as a Payroll Supervisor means to you and what you like most about it?

My job isn’t just about “running payroll” and making sure the numbers match. To me, it’s all about customer service – being able to communicate to clients and co-workers and interacting with so many people from such diverse backgrounds. Customer service is the key to making any business successful and I love helping people solve problems.

That must keep you busy! So if someone wanted to work in your department, what advice would you give him or her?

I’d say that you have to be able to multi-task and be really fast because there are always many things going on simultaneously. Also, in this department, as well as at DCR, you need to have an open mind and always be willing to learn. We’re constantly improving our systems as well as learning other complementary systems, so that means learning new things all the time.

That’s awesome. What’s your favorite thing about working at DCR? What has kept you here all these years?

I started out as a receptionist when we were a small company that was more like my family. DCR is growing fast and I have grown with them into new positions and responsibilities. So the growth has been really important. Also the flexibility they offer me as a mom because there are times when I need to leave a little early or even bring my son to the office occasionally. Naveen, CEO and Co-founder, and Ammu, President and Co-founder, are both family-first people and it shows.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about your department?

There’s an open door policy here. I can go to Naveen or Ammu with anything and they’ll listen. We may not be able to do something about it right away, or ever, but they’re willing to listen and they genuinely care about us.

One last question. What’s your favorite perk at DCR?

They’re all fantastic, but I love the health club membership! I’m passionate about working out, so this helps me stay committed to my investment in my health.

Juliana, it’s been a pleasure talking with you!
